The Virtual Brain is an open-source neuro-informatics platform for brain simulation. In my presentation, I will demonstrate how we use The Virtual Brain to increase our understanding of brain function, and to develop applications for clinics, education and public outreach. I will discuss the role of The Virtual Brain simulation engine in large-scale EU projects such as the Human Brain Project and the Virtual Brain Cloud, i.e. projects with informatics platforms at their core that foster data integration and the sharing of tools and services amongst scientists.
